14)Suns- three or two not sure finals appearance and they all fall short
15)Jazz- same as the suns but back back and they fall short
16)Wizards- i'm remembering the bullets
17)Hawks- they where a dominant team in the 50's when they where in st Louis
18)Magic- Finals appearance in 95 they dominated in the 90's
19)Mavericks- Finals appearance in 2006
20)Pacers- Finals appearance and battle with the knocks in the 90's

22)Nets- Finals appearance in 2002 and 2003
23)Hornets- fallen short of advancing through the WCF

27)Raptors- their deepest in the playoffs is Semis eliminated by Philly in 2001

1. Lakers - because they are the most consistent and 2nd among NBA teams that has championships. they always make the playoffs.
2. Celtics - 16 rings. hard to argue...
3. Bulls - 6 championships in 8years.. 72-10 in 1997 and 69-13 in 1998.. almost back to back 70wins.. hard to argue..
4. Spurs - the streak in playoff started during david robinson's era.. and continued by tim duncan's era..
5. Pistons - always a favorite to make the finals..
A couple of corrections to Quachett's post:
11. Seattle lost the 96 Finals to the Bulls. They won the title in 1979 (vs. Bullets) and lost the finals in '78 (also vs. Bullets)
13. The Blazers won the title in 1977, but lost both of their finals appearances in the '90s to the Pistons and Bulls
14. The Suns two finals appearances were in 1976 (lost to Celtics) and 1993 (lost to Bulls)
16. The Bucks won the title in 1971 but lost the finals in 1974 to the Celtics.
17. The Hawks title came in 1958 (against the Celtics). They lost to the Celtics in the '57, '60 and '61 finals.

it really is hard to rank all 30 since cot all of them have championships and you have teams with a championship but they got it in one season in which they were good (like heat 2005-2006)or you have a team which was really good but didnt get the ring Utah in the 90s but the top 5
1. Celtics - got the most rings (16) and had great legends in the quest of those rings in Bill Russel and Larry Bird now yet again they are in tht quest with KG
2. Lakers - Another powerful force under the leadership of Kareem then Magic Then Shaq and now Kobe they got the second most rings 14 but the most finals appearence 28 to celtics 19.
3. Bulls - lead by arguably the best NBA player of all time Jordan they appeard 6 times in the finals and all those times they won the championship they are third in rings and they were the force of the 90s if jordan didnt have those retirements i think they would have had one or two more rings. they have the best regular season record in the history of the nba.
4. Spurs - four championships in all thier four finals appearence they have dominated very great teams in thier quest for the rings like dallas spurs and recently hornets. lead by one of the greatest power forwards of all time they have been the best team in the 2000s having the best winning record overall at .718 followed by lakers
5. 76ers - third tie because they have thre rings like pistons but 9 overall appearence and have had a series of dominant teams like with AI in the late 90s early 00s with Barkely and a dominance in the late 70s early 80s
6. Knicks - though they have only 2 rings but they have 8 finals appearences last apperin in 1999 but they were a dominant force in the 70s.
6. Pistons - tied with knicks though they had a ring more than knicks they appeared in the finals one less time and as the pistons in the 2000s being one of the dominant forces 3 best wining record so was the knicks in the 70s thts why i think they tie

8. GSW - 6 appearence in the finals 3 rings
9. Rockets 4 appearences two rings good team in the 90s
10. Jazz - 2 time finalist no ring but the Marlone stockton eran saw a dominat jazz but which faced greater opposition in bulls lakers and lakers etc
11. Seattle - won in 96 with two other appearences in the 70s had a decent 90s record.
12. Wizards - 4 time finalist one time champions were a force in the 70s but not much of a threat ever since
13. Blazers - 92 champions with two othe finals in the 70s
14. Suns two time finalist int the 90s but a great force in the 00s under the leadership of Nash.
15. NETS (ma team) 2 time finalist in 02 and 03 have been good in the past 8 yrs except last two seasons
the reson why i put suns and NETS there altho they have no rings is tht they played in a more difficult time and thier apperences are more significant compared to rings won in the 50s or early 70s by hawks or bucks
16. Bucks - champions in 74 and finalist in 71 lead by the great Kareem and Oscar Robertson, too bad they only won 1 ring.
17. Hawks finalist four times three of which were in the 50s and finaly won in 61 againest celtic were a force in the 60s but as i said tallent was not big in tht time hence they are lower.
the rest to me are a mater of opinion hence hard to rank.
