I mean come on Laker's in 7th even if you are a Celtics fan thats a little messed up. I also believe the Celtics without and thats without Garnett should not be second prolly third would be better suited for a Garnettless Celtics team. Are you serious Utah at three and Phoenix below them what a bad make up. What these are trying to tell me is that if Phoenix played Utah or Utah played Dallas or San Antonio the Jazz would win. I do not think so I'm just a little confused with these how does L.A. move down after winning it just does not make sense to me.

the power rankings are based off of a week to week basis and since the jazz did not lose that week and all of the other teams that you think should be ahead of the jazz did that is why the jazz are in third and not the lakers, spurs, mavs, and if you will start to pay attention to what the jazz are doing to every team they are playing right now you will see that it is very possible for the jazz to beat any team in the nba. and if you check out 82games dot com you will see that the jazz have the only bench in the whole nba that does not start to lose the game when they come in. fact
So I am pretty sure the jazz have only lost three times since trading for Kyle Korver and They have beat the Spurs Mavs And Suns this year so yeah the rankings are correct.

So you are stupid and Corey Brewer does not play for the jazz and what do the jazz need besides there starters and then you have Paul Milsap , Kyle Korver, and Matt Harpring coming off the bench

Boston looks for real and it's scary for me as a lifetime LA fan. Great job for Boston for acquiring KG and Ray Allen. Tony Allen is improving and Paul Pierce is maturing fast.

My second team Portland deserves the spot they are in right now. I like the way Marvin Williams and B Roy are playing. They look reall too.

Atlanta, my third team, is definitely improving. The two Josh are fast developing their role in a higher level. Marvin is doing great and the two Johnson are playing great too. Hope Shelden will show some improvement soon.

Isn't it obvoius that the youngest teams in the NBA are playing superb now. Go Lakers, Go Blazers and Hawks are flying. KObe and Bynum are still the best. Jordan Farmar hats off to you. And finally, my favorite and soon to be in three years time the best point guard in the NBA. Javaris Crittenton.

its just rankings... if these were real rankings based on team playoff experience etc, boston isnt on top and portland, new orleans and the lakers arent even in the top 10....
No. This is all about someones opinion really.

In my opinion Phoenix is ranked too low, they have a share of the top spot with the Spurs and beat them a few weeks back. Portland is overrated right now and doesn't deserve that high of a ranking. The rest of them should be shuffled around a couple spots here and there, but you have to wonder what John Schuhmann is thinking sometimes. Although the rankings are week to week... his rankings lack consistency and credibility.
They are what they are and they can change drastically every week. I am not sure I would put Portland ahead of the Suns but overall I would say it is about right.
i agree. those teams that are higher deserve the spots. some might say one team is too high, but it is going week by week, so...

Don't look know, but the East is catching up to the West in the NBA. The newest power rankings feature 3 East teams in the top 5 and only 2 West teams. Given that the teams following the top 5 is saturated with west teams, the East is on the rise, and teams like Orlando and the CELTICS (chyeah, chyeah) are on the rise and ready to give San Antonio a run for their money. Look out West, here comes the East.

Not even close! True the Celtics are as good as any team in the west. But who else? Magic are overrated and will come crashing down even though Dwight Howard is playing incredible. Detroit is good but not good enough to compete against the best in the west. Why is this question even being brought up? It's going to be a while. Especially for the laughing stock on the NBA the New York Knicks! LOL!
sorry to break it to you, but the east still sucks even with their new players. they are still a JV team compared to the west. cleveland, your eastern rep for the finals is below .500. i dont care if james didnt play, no excuses every team has injuries. chicago the supposedly "beast of the east" is a crappy team way under .500. then you have disappointing teams like the hawks and bobcats and bucks and knicks. your nba finals champs from a couple years ago, the heat, suck right now even with wade. your only bright spots are orlando, boston, detroit, and maybe toronto. try comparing those teams to the western teams of dallas, san antonio, phoenix, and utah.

The Jazz are playing terrific basketball right now, and showing that making it to the conference finals last year against San Antonio wasn't a fluke.

They really could win it all. They have a much more productive bench then the Celtics, a superior point guard, and a better starting center. They also have a better coach then the Celts. The Jazz are also the second youngest team in the NBA, so they should be a legitimate title contender for many seasons to come. Even Charles Barkley is picking the Jazz to win the western conference.

He just put the team in alphabetical order. I do not think ratings matter early in the season anyway. The first couple of games is when teams are getting back to playing hard ball. And from the first week some teams have a lot of analyzing, bonding, and communicating to do.
Actually it isn't power rankings. He just listed the teams in alphabetical order.
I personally think Steve Kerr was being lazy as hell...he just didn't want to commit to anything and look dumb later...
